Spa product. Jade roller and gua sha with face cream and serum bottle

#1.

If you could choose only five products, these are the ones you should have in your beauty essentials:

  • Foundation
  • Bronzer/Blush
  • Eyeliner
  • Mascara
  • UV-filtering skin balm (You don’t just look out for UV protection when you’re out in the sun, do you?)

#2.

Get two shades of your favourite foundation right away. Why?

Because that way you can use the right shade every time of year.

On the other hand, you can use the darker shade for shading. So the foundation can also work perfectly as a bronzer.

#3.

Those serums and creams that don’t fit perfectly into your skincare routine, or you just realised you didn’t choose the right one, don’t throw them away. Save these products and use them on the décolleté, neck or back of the hands, where the skin often reveals its age before the face. That way, you won’t feel like you’ve wasted another pile of money and your skin will thank you for taking care of those areas too.

#4.

Of all the cosmetic creams you should spend the most on serums, but it’s not necessary to use 3-5 serums at once, as that will only aggravate your skin. The less is sometimes more rule applies here too. Use a maximum of two types of serums and build in a five-minute break between applications, during which time you can drink your morning coffee/tea, for example. Let your skin absorb the first layer and only then apply the next. If you’re experiencing a slightly sticky after-feel, you can easily remedy this with a thermal water face spray.

#5.

A weekly facial will refresh both body and soul. Make time for it. Obviously, it’s best to hire a trained professional and go for a facial once a week, but it’s also perfect to try a facial massage roller at home.

#6.

Always use a clean towel when cleansing your face.

#7.

A facial routine is no great folly and there’s no need to overdo it. Wash away impurities, use a moisturising toner, then your favourite serum and finish the routine with a light moisturiser.

Choose your moisturiser and face wash according to your skin type, but your serum should be based on your skin concerns.

#8.

Don’t just nourish your skin from the outside. Get good quality collagen and drink enough water.

#9.

Look for the following ingredients in anti-ageing creams: retinol, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, peptides.

Active ingredients for problem skin: BHA, Niacinamide.

#10.

Menthol lip balms should be used with caution, because although they can make the lips look fuller by causing blood to flow, which can look absolutely great, they can also dry out the skin with prolonged daily use.
